More info: Affected users may see a message within an impacted email message stating that the scan of the attachment is in progress. Users can forward themselves the affected email message to access the intended attachment.

Current status: Our aforementioned validation process is ongoing, though it’s taking an extended time to complete. Once this process has completed, we anticipate that we’ll be able to provide a timeline for the deployment of our fix.

Scope of impact: Some users receiving email messages intended to have attachments may be impacted.

Root cause: A recent service update introduced a configuration issue that’s causing an index, which our service utilizes for querying email messages and their associated attachments, to become stale. As the index is stale, the query fails and attachments get stuck in an in-progress state.
