User impact: Users may be unable to open some custom document templates within SharePoint Online.

Current status: We’ve identified that a recent service update to a portion of the SharePoint Online service infrastructure exposed an existing code issue within the service, resulting in impact. We’ve developed and validated a fix to address the code issue which we’ve begun deploying to the affected environment. Users will experience relief from this issue as this rollout occurs. We’ll aim to provide a timeline for the deployment to complete by our next scheduled communications update.

Scope of impact: Any user attempting to open some custom document templates within SharePoint Online may be impacted.
