User impact: Users may be unable to join shared channels using some links to messages in Microsoft Teams. More info: This issue specifically affects links generated using the “Copy Link” option through the three dots menu located at the top right of the shared channel. Users can bypass this impact by generating links to channels using any alternate method, such as by right-clicking on the channel in the left rail menu or any specific message within the shared channel and choosing the “Copy Link” option there. Current status: We’ve determined that a recent update intended to improve the data pathways leveraged to facilitate channel link generation is causing the affected links to be malformed, leading to impact. We’ve developed a fix to resolve this issue, and we’re initiating deployment of this fix to the impacted service environments. Scope of impact: Users joining channels or generating channels links using the “Copy Link” options within the three dots menu located at the top right of shared Microsoft Teams channels may be impacted. Root cause: A recent update intended to improve the data pathways leveraged to facilitate channel link generation is causing the affected links to be malformed, leading to impact.
