User impact: Users may be unable to access or manage Microsoft Teams channels.

Current status: While our initial remediation efforts relieved some of the impact from this issue, our ongoing monitoring of service health telemetry indicated that more robust changes will be necessary to achieve full remediation. We’re developing an additional change to the way process calls are handled while continuing our investigation into the cause of this issue.

Scope of impact: This issue may impact any user in North America who is attempting to interact with Microsoft Teams channels. This information may be updated as our investigation continues.

Root cause: A large number of user channel membership requests made to an API that handles Microsoft Teams channel information created a heavy load on service infrastructure, resulting in users in North America not being able to access or manage channels.
