User impact: Users’ DLP policy approved email messages aren’t being delivered or are encountering delays in Exchange Online.

Current status: Our fix validation has uncovered a broken scenario in the change we’re developing to fix this issue. We’re reviewing our fix to determine what additional modifications are needed to avoid causing this scenario to occur outside of the testing environment, and apply the changes before additional testing and validation occur. In parallel, we’re continuing to manually mitigate the issues for impacted databases to provide relief to affected users.

Scope of impact: This issue may affect any user attempting to send or receive email messages that require DLP policy approvals.

Root cause: A recent change introduced a regression which caused certain DLP properties to be incorrectly indexed. This resulted in our Event Based Assistants receiving a signal stating something critical is occurring when attempting to access the database to approve requests, resulting in restarts and impact.
