As part of our routine device management services, we will deploy the next update of the Microsoft Managed Desktop configuration baseline (version 2306) to your Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) organization (tenant).

[When will this happen:]

We expect to start deployment on June 29, 2023, and plan for its completion by mid-July 2023, per the following schedule:

• Test group: June 29, 2023
• First group: July 5, 2023
• Fast group: July 10, 2023
• Broad group: July 17, 2023

[How this affects your organization:]

We are updating the baseline configuration and will deploy to your Test group and progress through your other groups (First, Fast, and Broad), as described in Microsoft Managed Desktop update management.

Summary of changes:

1. Upgrade Microsoft Cloud Managed Desktop Extension to ‘Microsoft Cloud Managed Desktop Extension V14’. This includes bug fixes for the log collection plug-in and additions to the Diagnostic logs.
   
2. Update ‘Microsoft OneNote’, ‘Microsoft 365 Apps’, ‘Microsoft Visio’ and ‘Microsoft Project’ to the V3. This includes bug fixes for the log collection plug-in and additions to the Diagnostic logs.
   
3. Improve the default ‘Microsoft Teams’ version to version 1.6. If a higher version is not present on the new Microsoft Managed Desktop device. Microsoft Teams version 1.6 will be installed as an initial deployment, pending any applicable Microsoft Teams auto-updates.
   
4. Add configuration service provider (CSP) policy to set the app location service for Microsoft Managed Desktop. Microsoft Managed Desktop will add ‘CSP – System AllowLocation’ policy to manage the device applications’ location setting.
   
5. Update ‘Microsoft OneNote’, ‘Microsoft 365 Apps’, ‘Microsoft Visio’ and ‘Microsoft Project’ to fix bugs when user profile contains special characters. Updated ‘Microsoft OneNote’, ‘Microsoft 365 Apps’, ‘Microsoft Visio’ and ‘Microsoft Project’ are available to install in the Company Portal.
   
6. Improve ‘Modern Workplace – Support Enablement v16’ to ‘Modern Workplace – Support Enablement v17.’ This includes allowing user configured Windows Local Administrator Password Solution (Windows LAPS) account to keep administrator privileges.
