Windows Autopatch is a service that automates Windows, Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise, Microsoft Edge, and Microsoft Teams updates, while offering security and productivity solutions. Windows Autopatch is included with Window 10/11 Enterprise E3 or higher.

Beginning August 2023, Windows Autopatch availability will expand to tenants that have licenses for Microsoft 365 E5 Suite features. Associated devices will be able to register with the Windows Autopatch service.

Starting August 2023, Autopatch users will see the Windows Autopatch service plan associated with their Microsoft 365 license.

Once the August enablement is in place, Autopatch users will be able to verify that the service plan is present under their Microsoft 365 license. In the Microsoft 365 admin center, select Billing from the left side panel, then Licenses. Select the Subscriptions tab if not selected by default, and check the list for the appropriate licenses. When viewing one of the qualifying licenses, select one of the users that are assigned the license, then Manage apps & services. In the respective panel, find the Windows Autopatch service plan to confirm the service is present.

Please note that the service expansion will not affect devices already under service management.

No action is required from Autopatch users before, during, or after this change. If you have any questions or need assistance, file a service request by visiting the Support section of the Microsoft Intune admin center.
