IT admins can now manage early adoption of new productivity features and fixes for Windows 11 with a new policy. You can set up the policy called “Enable optional updates” to allow users in your organization to receive optional updates with different levels of control. They can either automatically receive optional updates, including or not gradual feature rollouts or CFRs, or manually select what optional updates to receive.
When will this happen:
The policy “Enable optional updates” is available starting August 22, 2023.
How this will affect your organization:
Optional non-security preview releases are part of regular device maintenance. They include non-security updates, fixes, features, and improvements. By getting these updates, users at your organization can get new productivity features and some fixes early, such as important time zone changes. Now you can ensure that your organization gets these valuable improvements with the right level of control on Windows 11, version 22H2 and later.
