Current status: We’ve completed our analysis of the reported behaviour and have determined the source of the impact. A recent change intended to finalize a migration update contains problematic code, which is resulting in small sections of infrastructure, responsible for handling default language settings in SharePoint Online, to unexpectedly override the default language to English for some users. We’ve disabled this change and have validated internally that this action is mitigating the impact. Out of an abundance of caution, we’re monitoring our telemetry and awaiting customer confirmation that this issue has been resolved.

Scope of impact: Impact is specific to users who are served through the affected infrastructure, and all users may see their SharePoint Online lists and libraries displayed in English instead of their default language.
