More info: Specifically, users may see the edit button greyed out or not visible at all. As a workaround, admins may be able to manually run the following script “Set-SPOSite -DenyAddAndCustomizePages 0”, to re-enable custom script through PowerShell to mitigate impact.

Current status: We’ve completed the fix development which we’re deploying to our
internal testing environment for further validation prior to releasing to affected users. The validation process is expected to take an extended period of time to ensure that the fix will address the problem without causing additional impact. We’ll provide a better estimate on the process timeline as one becomes available and also look for methods for expediting the fix.

Scope of impact: Impact is specific to some users, who are served through the affected infrastructure, attempting to edit some SharePoint Online classic site pages.

Root cause: A recent feature update, that enforces the disabling of customs scripts, has introduced a regression leading to custom scripts being unexpectedly disabled and causing users to lose the ability to edit some classic site pages.
