More info: Specifically, users may see the edit button greyed out or not visible at all. As a workaround, admins may be able to manually run the following script “Set-SPOSite -DenyAddAndCustomizePages 0”, to re-enable custom script through PowerShell to mitigate impact.

Current status: As our fix was deploying, we performed some initial tests on multiple site pages. For some, we identified the pages displayed as expected and could be edited. For others, instead of rendering the page, SharePoint Online is rendering the document library. We’ve paused the deployment of our fix to identify why we’re seeing scenarios where this occurs, determine why it’s occurring, and confirm if the fix can continue to be rolled out or if adjustments are necessary.

Scope of impact: Impact is specific to some users, who are served through the affected infrastructure, attempting to edit some SharePoint Online classic site pages.

Root cause: A recent feature update, that enforces the disabling of customs scripts, has introduced a regression leading to custom scripts being unexpectedly disabled and causing users to lose the ability to edit some classic site pages.
