User impact: Users may be unable to use the search functionality in multiple Microsoft 365 services.

More info: Users are able to access and utilize search functions across all affected Microsoft 365 services; though, approximately 10 percent of searches may result in partial failures. Users who encounter this problem may be able to obtain full results in subsequent retries for the same query.

Impacted services include but are not limited to:
– Microsoft Teams
– SharePoint Online
– Outlook desktop client
– Outlook on the Web

Current status: Our continued monitoring of the partial search query failures indicates that the occurrence rate is lower than initially stated and may only occur for approximately one percent of search requests. In addition to ongoing planning to deploy a fix, we’ve identified a potential alternate short-term mitigation and are working to validate this solution within a test environment.

Scope of impact: This issue can affect any user in our worldwide production environment but will only occur for a given user when their request traffic is served through the affected infrastructure. We’ve confirmed that this issue does not impact customers within our Government Cloud environments.
