User impact: Ongoing impact from MO545600 – Some user search queries may continually return partial results.

More info: This notification concerns persistent user impact resulting from events described in MO545600, which we’ve determined is a significantly more rare occurrence and does not prevent users from access to any Microsoft 365 services.

Users may experience a rare search condition in which search queries return with incomplete or partial results. Affected queries performed within customized or legacy versions of the search user interface (UI) within Microsoft 365 service platforms may receive an error when encountering this problem, although no error will be shown for occurrences of the issue within the modern search UI.

Current status: As previously reported in MO545600, the original issue which prevented users from accessing or leveraging search functionality across multiple Microsoft 365 service platforms has been addressed and is no longer impacting users. We’ve identified through additional customer reports and our own internal validations that a second layer of impact to a small group of search queries in which users may receive partial or incomplete results. We’ve determined that this is due to functional issues within the search index and are performing validation of an identified fix within a test environment; although, application of this fix – if proven successful – will require a detailed and time-intensive implementation process.

Scope of impact: While a rare occurrence, any user may experience this issue when running a search query that encounters a functional search index issue.
