We’re introducing a new capability to enable admins to configure label inheritance between files and emails. 

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 100158.

[When this will happen:]

Rollout to public preview will begin in late February and is expected to be complete by mid-March.

Rollout to general availability will begin in early May (previously late March) and is expected to be complete by late May (previously end of April).

[How this will affect your organization:]

With this update, admins can use the Microsoft Purview compliance portal to configure sensitivity label policies to inherit labels from attachments to email messages. 

[What you need to do to prepare:]

No action is needed to enable this feature.
