User impact: Users are unable to access their Exchange Online mailboxes through various connection methods.

More info: Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) and Post Office Protocol (POP) connection protocols are impacted, resulting in sign in failures including but not limited to the Outlook desktop client.

While we’re focused on remediation, users may be able to use Outlook on the web to access their mailboxes.

Current status: We’ve rolled back the affected infrastructure’s configuration to an older healthy version; however, impact is persisting. We’re currently working to restart the Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) service on our end to verify whether this may help alleviate impact, in parallel with our continued investigation of the impacted connection path.

Scope of impact: Users serviced by the affected infrastructure attempting to access their Exchange Online mailboxes may be impacted.
