More info: The risk of impact was specific to users with streaming notifications enabled for Exchange Online who were also using connection methods that utilized the Exchange Web Services (EWS) API, including, but not limited to, legacy Outlook for Mac.
Affected users may have noticed that any action facilitated by the Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) API, which ingests the streaming notifications that are impacted, may have been affected. This included, but wasn’t limited to, sending and receiving email messages, and copying, moving, deleting, and updating email messages and other items.

Final status: Following our completed fix deployment, our internal service telemetry has confirmed that impact has been remediated.

Scope of impact: This problem may have impacted some users with streaming notifications enabled who were served through the affected infrastructure and were utilizing the Exchange Online service using any connection method that utilized the EWS API.

Root cause: A code regression within a portion of our service infrastructure was causing streaming notification responses to return IDs in legacy format regardless of the request version ingested, which was resulting in various Exchange Online issues for users of any connection method that utilized the EWS API.
