User impact: Users may experience crashes on ReFS enabled devices in Microsoft Defender.

More info: This impact is sporadic and may be causing a system failure on ReFS enabled devices on the latest update.

To resolve impact in the meantime, we recommend for all devices with ReFS enabled, to revert back to the previous update, and not utilize the KB5053606, KB5053643, KB5053602, KB5053657, KB5053603, KB5053598 or KB5053596 updates.

Current status: We implemented a code change to reduce the occurrence of the crashes. In addition, we’ve developed a long-term solution for the issue and are preparing for its deployment in the next major update. We expect that the deployment to the affected environments will take time to complete and will monitor the progress closely.

Scope of impact: Any user may be affected by this event and experience crashes on ReFS enabled devices.
