Current status: We’ve determined that our mitigation efforts for an unrelated service problem have produced a backlog of app requests and retries to an API that facilitates SharePoint Online search, resulting in search impact in SharePoint Online. We’ve implemented a change to increase processing throughput by reducing the number of retries to the affected API and we’re processing the backlog of requests to remediate impact.

Scope of impact: Impact is specific users in tenants created on or after Thursday, April 17, 2025, and the problem impacts users performing searches in SharePoint Online.
