“0x800704e8 The remote system is not available.”

Admins can still download package updates using Microsoft Update in the Windows operating system.

Current status: We’re reviewing an authentication component, necessary for facilitating Microsoft Defender Antivirus definition updates through the alternate download location, to determine whether it may be contributing to the impact.

Scope of impact: Any admin attempting to download Microsoft Defender Antivirus definition updates from the alternate download location may be impacted.
