User impact: Users may be unable to access or manage Microsoft Teams channels.

Current status: We’ve identified a large number of requests which are creating heavy load on service infrastructure that’s responsible for processing user channel membership information. We’re making a change to the way these process calls are handled to rebalance load across service infrastructure, which we expect will remediate impact.

Scope of impact: This issue may impact any user in North America who is attempting to interact with Microsoft Teams channels. This information may be updated as our investigation continues.

Root cause: A large number of user channel membership requests made to an API that handles Microsoft Teams channel information created a heavy load on service infrastructure, resulting in users in North America not being able to access or manage channels.
