Users running affected queries performed within customized or legacy versions of the search user interface (UI) within Microsoft 365 service platforms may receive an error when encountering this problem, although no error will be shown for occurrences of the issue within the modern search UI.<\/p>\n

Current status: We initiated index maintenance to repair search index errors on Sunday, May 7, 2023, and are actively tracking the progress across our regional infrastructure groups.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve also introduced an additional fix to our query service as of Monday, May 8, 2023, to fortify search performance and allow more complete results when encountering partial failures from index error conditions. Our preliminary observations show this to be effective in substantially reducing impact during these events while the long-term fix works to reduce their occurrence.<\/p>\n

Scope of impact: While a rare occurrence, any user may experience this issue when performing a search query that encounters an incorrect index entry.<\/p>\n
