Current status: We\u2019ve successfully validated the controlled service restart process, confirming that the corrected certificate is loading as expected and licensing validation is recovering. We\u2019re now proceeding with the restart across a broader set of impacted environments. We\u2019re continuing to closely monitor recovery signals and will provide further updates as the expansion progresses.<\/p>\n

Scope of impact: Some admins attempting to access Activity Explorer in the Microsoft Purview portal or retrieve sensitivity labels using the AIP unified labeling client may be impacted. This information may be updated as our investigation continues.<\/p>\n

Root cause: A service-to-service authentication certificate was recently updated and is disrupting how licensing information is validated, causing some requests to be incorrectly identified as unlicensed and resulting in impact.<\/p>\n
