This change increases administrator control over third\u2011party application access to Exchange data and aligns default consent behavior with   industry best practices for protecting email and related content.<\/p>\n<p><b>[When this will happen]<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 25px\"><b>General Availability (Worldwide): <\/b>We will begin rolling out in<b> early June 2026<\/b> and expect to complete by  <b>early July 2026<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><b>[How this affects your organization]<\/b><\/p>\n<p><i>Who is affected<\/i><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Microsoft 365 tenants using the <b>Microsoft\u2011managed default user consent policy<\/b><\/li>\n<li>Admins managing <b>Exchange Online<\/b> and <b>Microsoft Graph app<\/b> access<\/li>\n<li>Organizations that allow third\u2011party applications to access Exchange data via delegated permissions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><i>What will happen<\/i><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The following Microsoft Graph delegated permissions will be added to the <b>Microsoft recommended user consent policy<\/b>:\n<ul>\n<li>Contacts.ReadWrite\n<ul>  <\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Contacts.Read.Shared<\/li>\n<li>People.Read<\/li>\n<li>Tasks.ReadWrite.Shared\n<ul>  <\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Tasks.ReadWrite\n<ul>  <\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Tasks.Read.Shared\n<ul>  <\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Tasks.Read\n<ul>  <\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Contacts.ReadWrite.Shared\n<ul>  <\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>These changes will be reflected as an update to the Microsoft\u2011managed default user consent policy.<\/li>\n<li>With this change, any organization using the Microsoft\u2011managed user consent policy will require admin consent for these additional permissions to access Exchange mail data.
