This change brings OWA in line with the new Outlook experience, enabling enhanced capabilities such as the new oversharing policy tips experience and \u201cWait to send.\u201d This update helps provide   a more consistent, modern, and scalable DLP experience across Outlook clients.<\/p>\n<p><b>When this will happen:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>  <\/p>\n<ul>  <\/p>\n<li>General Availability (Worldwide): Rollout will begin <b>mid-May 2026<\/b> and complete by  <b>late May 2026<\/b>.<\/li>\n<p>  <\/p>\n<li>General Availability (GCC): Rollout will begin <b>mid-May 2026<\/b> and complete by  <b>mid-June 2026<\/b>.<\/li>\n<p>  <\/ul>\n<p><b>How this affects your organization:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>  <\/p>\n<p><b>Who is affected:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>  <\/p>\n<ul>  <\/p>\n<li>Admins managing <b>Exchange Online and Microsoft Purview DLP policies<\/b><\/li>\n<p>  <\/p>\n<li>Organizations using <b>DLP policies in Outlook on the web<\/b><\/li>\n<p>  <\/ul>\n<p><b>What will happen:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>  <\/p>\n<ul>  <\/p>\n<li>A new organization-level setting (<code>DlpViaDcsEnabled<\/code>) will be available to control DLP evaluation mode in OWA.<\/li>\n<p>  <\/p>\n<li>By default, the setting is <code>False<\/code>, meaning Exchange-based DLP remains in use.<\/li>\n<p>  <\/p>\n<li>Admins can manually enable DCS-based DLP evaluation for OWA using PowerShell.<\/li>\n<p>  <\/p>\n<li>Once enabled, OWA will use DCS-based DLP policy evaluation instead of Exchange-based evaluation.<\/li>\n<p>  <\/p>\n<li>Users may experience enhanced DLP features, including:<br \/> \n<ul>  <\/p>\n<li>Improved oversharing policy tips<\/li>\n<p>  <\/p>\n<li>\u201cWait to send\u201d functionality<\/li>\n<p>  <\/p>\n<li>Alignment with new Outlook DLP behavior<\/li>\n<p>  <\/ul>\n<p>  <\/li>\n<p>  <\/p>\n<li>Some legacy Exchange-based DLP predicates will no longer be supported after migration. Refer to  <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/purview\/dlp-ol365-win32-policy-tips#sensitive-information-types-that-support-policy-tips-for-outlook-perpetual-users\" target=\"_blank\">  Data loss prevention policy tip reference for Outlook for Microsoft 365 | Microsoft Learn<\/a>&nbsp;for details about supported features.<\/li>\n<p>  <\/ul>\n<p><b>What you can do to prepare:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>  <\/p>\n<ul>  <\/p>\n<li>If you plan to continue using Exchange-based DLP evaluation, no action is required.<\/li>\n<p>  <\/p>\n<li>If you plan to migrate to DCS-based DLP evaluation by enabling the <code>DlpViaDcsEnabled<\/code> setting:<\/li>\n<p>  <\/p>\n<ul>  <\/p>\n<li><b>Important:<\/b> Review existing DLP policies before enabling this setting.
