Latest Message

Title: Some users’ Microsoft 365 apps may not appear in the App launcher in SharePoint Online

User impact: Users’ Microsoft 365 apps may have not appeared in the App launcher in SharePoint Online.

More info: Users may not have seen the Settings icon, also known as the gear icon, appearing in SharePoint Online.

As a workaround, affected users could access the affected apps directly through office.com or microsoft365.com.

Previously, some users who were based in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region were affected by this event and have since been remediated.

Final status: We’ve confirmed that the final deployment has completed saturation throughout the remaining affected regions, and after monitoring the service, we’ve verified that this action has successfully remediated the problem.

Scope of impact: Impact was specific to some users in the United States region who attempted to access apps through the Microsoft 365 app or the Settings page in SharePoint Online.

Start time: Monday, October 5, 2026, at 12:30 PM UTC

End time: Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 2:30 PM UTC

Root cause: A portion of the SharePoint Online service infrastructure was operating in a suboptimal state and causing requests related to the Microsoft 365 app launcher to time out, resulting in impact.

Next steps: We’re analyzing performance data and trends on the affected SharePoint Online service infrastructure to help prevent this problem from happening again.

This is the final update for the event.
