Current status: We?ve confirmed that the earlier identified change, intended to utilize a new API source for user profile photo requests, is responsible for causing the issue. We?ve developed and validated a fix to revert the offending change, which we’re now deploying to the affected infrastructure to remediate impact. We expect this process to complete by the time of our next scheduled update.<\/p>\n

Scope of impact: Users’ thumbnail photos may fail to display in the Outlook desktop client if they are serviced by the affected infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Root cause: A recent change, which was intended to utilize a new API source for requests for user profile photos to be routed, is causing thumbnail photos to fail to display in the Outlook desktop client.<\/p>\n
