To enable IT Admins to take any critical tenant health actions directly within the Microsoft Managed Desktop portal, Microsoft Managed Desktop has created an enterprise application, Modern Workplace Management<\/i>, to replace the MsAdmin service account currently used to manage your tenant. <\/p>\n

Modern Workplace Management<\/i> is a Microsoft application used to run the Microsoft Managed Desktop service. This is the first action that will become available to IT Admins within the Tenant management blade and will go live at the end of March. <\/p>\n

This change is part of our efforts to improve how the Microsoft Managed Desktop service is managed. Modern Workplace Management helps minimize the need to exclude accounts from conditional access and multi-factor authentication. Additionally, it improves the ability to manage configuration updates and maintain overall service health. <\/p>\n

Modern Workplace Management will go live at the end of March 2023. <\/p>\n

Depending on when you enrolled to the service, we will have different actions that will be necessary to take. <\/p>\n

You can visit the Tenant Management pane via: <\/p>\n

  • Tenant Administration > Microsoft Managed Desktop > Tenant Management<\/i><\/li>\n
  • Select the banner displayed within the Microsoft Managed Desktop Devices<\/i> pane that alerts you to take action.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    If your organization enrolled into Microsoft Managed Desktop prior to July 11, 2022, the following actions apply: <\/p>\n

    In the Tenant management blade, Global Admins will need to consent and approve the following changes: <\/p>\n

    • Create the Modern Workplace Management<\/i> enterprise application.\n
        \n
      • This is a limited enterprise application with the specified permissions listed below. We use this account to manage the service, publish baseline configuration updates, and maintain overall service health.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
      • Remove MSAdmin<\/i> from Service accounts<\/i>.
