Once the resource capacity was functional, we monitored our telemetry to validate the the errors were no longer occurring and that the impact was remediated.<\/p>\n

Scope of impact: This issue could have potentially impacted any admin hosted within the Europe or US regions who’re served through the affected infrastructure and attempting to access the Microsoft 365 Apps admin center web page.<\/p>\n

Root cause: A traffic management misconfiguration was causing a section of infrastructure, responsible for facilitating the config.office.com web page and client device connections for the Cloud Policy Service, to operate below acceptable performance thresholds.<\/p>\n

Next steps:
– We’re continuing to analyze the impacted section of infrastructure to gain further insight into what triggered the errors, which will help us prevent similar impact in the future.
– We’re working to allocate additional resource capacity in both the US and EU regions to further improve the robustness of the service.<\/p>\n
